    The Used Truck Sales Manager ensures that the dealership meets the used truck sales quotas and its gross profit objectives on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. Manager will ensure that the retail and fleet units sold produce sufficient gross profit to aid the dealership in reaching its profit objective on a monthly and yearly basis. Responsible for maintaining a well-balanced used vehicle inventory for the region. Manager will accomplish these objectives through planning, organizing, coordinating, and measuring the activities of the New and Used Vehicle Sales Departments.


    Additional job duties will include:

    • Facilitate vehicle pre-delivery with the Service Manager.
    • Communicate daily with the salespeople regarding trade-ins.
    • Seek out good-quality, low mileage units at other dealerships, from newspaper ads, and any other sources available.
    • Determine Wholesale vs Retail values.
    • Enforce a 90 day turn policy.
    • Appraise all incoming used vehicles.
    • Ensure that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership’s cost and time limitations.
    • Help salespeople close deals when necessary.
    • Establish and control wholesaling, with Dealer’s concurrence.
    • Assist in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
    • Conduct bi-weekly sales meetings.
    • Provide on-the-job training for salespeople.
    • Ensure that salespeople are following an established prospecting program to obtain optimum results.
    • Hire, motivate, and monitor the performance of all sales employees.
    • Forecast monthly with each salesperson to establish objectives in terms of the number and type of customers coming into the dealership, closing percentages in each category, time utilization, prospecting efforts, unit sales, and projected income.
    • Recommend to the General Manager and Director procedures for short-and long-range advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, compensation plans, customer complaints, and salespersons’ evaluations.
    • Review monthly commission sheets, salespeople’s monthly forecasts, and profit performance with the General Manager by salesperson and as a department.
    • Maintain a balanced used vehicle inventory and wholesale selection.
    • Ensure that every prospect is thanked personally.
    • Ensure that all inventory is front-line ready and properly displayed on the sales lot within 15 days of receiving the unit.


    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
    • High school diploma or the equivalent
    • Two years of sales experience
    • Professional personal appearance
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent managerial and negotiating skills
