Responsibilities

As a CIT Trucks Service Shop Foreman, you will be expected to organize, lead, and control the flow of service work through the department while ensuring quality repairs at a fair cost to the customer. You will be responsible for maintaining technician efficiency and productivity goals established by management. Factored into your commission requirements is your ability to ensure departmental compliance with all safety protocol and company policies.

  1. Manage the repair work orders, including coordinating work flow, scheduling, and determining reparability.
  2. Communicate effectively with customers.
  3. Perform repair estimates on damaged vehicles.
  4. Maintain records of time, expenses, and materials.
  5. Estimate cost of labor and the salvage value on total vehicle loss.
  6. Examine vehicle to determine extent of damage with working knowledge.
  7. Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet project deadlines.
  8. Assist technicians in developing their skills with support of the Service Manager.
  9. Schedule repair work and assign technicians to segments that match their skill level to ensure quality.
  10. Review completed work to ensure repaired trucks are in proper operating condition.
  11. Responsible for creating a safe working environment.
  12. Advise direct reports on complicated jobs, techniques, and approaches through troubleshooting or teaching practices.
  13. Visually inspect parts after processing for defects.
  14. Review all service repair orders, making sure everything is complete and the total repair order is in accordance with the original estimate and any supplement that may have been added.
  15. Manage time effectively and efficiently.

 

Qualifications

  • Comprehension of basic software applications related to diagnostics, engine parameters, and product preference guidelines
  • Initiative to gain sufficient knowledge required to advise customers regarding equipment specifications and engineering of products and components to meet customer needs
  • Dedication to building long-term customer relations with a proven ability to lead and motivate
  • Outgoing personality and strong interpersonal skills with a focus on superior customer service
  • Professional attitude and appearance with a strong work ethic
  • Desire to set and attain goals while conducting business honestly and with integrity
  • Agricultural or mechanical backgrounds have been proven beneficial
  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years’ experience in retail service industry
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License
