  • Hires, trains, and motivates all dealership department managers. Responsible for the productivity and morale of managers and employees under his/her control. Provides enthusiastic leadership which positively shapes employees’ attitudes and builds strong morale.
  • Directs and monitors all dealership management and supervisory personnel functions and completes formal performance evaluations of all department managers at regularly scheduled intervals.
  • Plans dealership operations for the coming year and submits to the President for approval. These plans include the annual business plan, annual departmental budgets, annual departmental sales plans, and others as assigned.
  • Reviews with the company Chief Financial Officer and Executive Management, on a monthly basis, departmental and dealership financial results for consistency with business plan forecasts.
  • Meets with managers, individually, to develop monthly and annual goals and objectives, and to review overall performance and safeguard company assets. Holds regularly scheduled management meetings to ensure that every department is operating efficiently and profitably.
  • Meets weekly with all department managers, as a group, to coordinate specific management efforts, direct the dealership’s overall sales efforts, and discuss current issues affecting the team.
  • Monitors the daily operating control (DOC), recommending improved courses of action where necessary.
  • The General Manager, in the absence of a designated Truck Sales Manager at the dealership, assumes the primary management responsibility for this vital department and leads the dealership’s truck sales efforts and management of the truck sales team.
  • Develops and maintains a good working relationship with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and CIT Trucks personnel.
  • Participates with CIT Trucks Executive Management and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) to set and achieve annual sales quotas and dealer excellence standards.
  • Communicates management policies and procedures to all employees and ensures that they are understood and followed.
  • Reviews all requests for training, approves those which are appropriate and consistent with the dealership’s formal training plan for professional and technical ability and advancement, and monitors their effectiveness.
  • Reviews and approves compensation plans for all employees under his/her control and forwards recommendations to Executive Management for approval.
  • Participates with the Marketing Coordinator in developing timely, effective, and pro-active merchandising strategies and assists in creating effective, cost-efficient advertising programs.
  • Resolves, fairly and effectively, any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify.
  • All other duties as assigned. 


  • Minimum of high school education, while a college degree in business administration or experience in the truck dealership industry is preferred and considered highly beneficial.
  • Professional personal appearance and conduct.
  • Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and achieve results through others. Dedication to building long-term employee, customer and vendor relations.

  • Excellent communication skills in person, on the telephone, and in writing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend management reports and financial information.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to utilize computer equipment and basic software applications (i.e. spreadsheets. word processing, e-mail, business system software, etc.).
  • Ability and initiative to gain sufficient knowledge required to advise customers and CIT Trucks employees regarding truck equipment specifications and engineering of products and components to accurately and effectively meet the customer’s equipment needs and application.
  • Existing knowledge or ability to develop understanding of truck equipment values.
  • Excellent project and program management skills with ability to perform short and long-term planning.
  • Common business sense, reasoning ability, and solid mathematical skills.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to compete and succeed.
  • Commitment to do business honestly and with integrity.
